There Are Ways To Make Big Bucks From Dead Domain Names

Each and every day there are lots of domain names going up for sale because the purchase who initially purchased them has forgot about them and the ownership of them has expired. However a savvy domain name investor will quickly snap these types of domains up and have the same amount of traffic going to it even though it is actually considered to be a brand new site. So unfortunately those who forget about their domains are losing out and those that are searching for and investing in them are making money.

All websites thrive or die because of the number of visitors that they receive to them on a daily basis. Therefore, when one of these sites becomes available which has a memorable domain name and plenty of traffic going to it a person with the nuances to purchase it can make a small tidy fortune from it.

For example, let us say there was a site, which was selling bridal gowns and tuxedos, but because it was not user friendly or had been poorly designed, or the products were over priced that the owner simply forgets about it and the domain then expires.

Yet one day the domain name on this site expires. A smart person who is investing in domain names will use a domain watchdog service, which will provide them with instant notification of the bridal site’s domain becoming available. They will then have the chance to be able to grab this domain up for a renewal cost of as little as $6.95.

So in just a few moments the investor is able to get hold of the domain name that they are interested and then they have a number of choices available to them. They can start to build up a very simple website through using a number of related ad links which will then allow the site to use the existing website traffic the site is receiving and which will hopefully in turn actually generate a regular cash flow for them.

As time passes the investor then has the choice of either building up the site further in order to monetize the traffic that is visiting, or they can simply resell (flip) it to another site owner or domain name investor or broker.

If you have an old domain name which you are considering getting rid of it may be well to place it on a site such as eBay or one of the many domain name auction sites which have now been set up online. You may well be pleasantly surprised at just how much you can sell it for using these sites. On eBay in recent times some of the more unusual domain names which have been put up for auction have sold for as much as $500 which is a tidy profit in anyones book.

However, for the more serious minded domain name investors out there they utilise a number of free and paid domain name valuation tools and services online, which can help them to make a more informed decision. Although the actual valuation prices tend to vary vastly because it depends on whether they have been either automated or manually generated by someone, it is not unusual for a domain to sell for more than its owner would have originally thought.
